Replacing old 2 wire thermostat with Honeywell TH3210D1004

Hi
I am replacing old 2 wire thermostat with Honeywell TH3210D1004. Currently, I have only heating system working (A/C is not installed). The old Thermostat have only white and Red wire (There are 2 other wires Yellow and Blue, but were not in used).

Based on this website and others, I connected Red to R and White to AUX but system is not working.

I am not a technical person ( and does not know electricity terms). Would appreciate if someone please help me.

Thanks in advance

Post the make and model of your old stat.

C terminal
The C (common wire) terminal is optional
when thermostat is powered by batteries.
Did you correctly install the batteries?

This thermostat provides electronic control of 24 VAC heat pump systems with auxiliary heat (2 heat/1 cool).
That is the wrong thermostat for a 2 wire unit. It is for heat pumps.
It should heat in the Emergency Heat setting but I would return it and get a Honeywell thermostat designed for conventional heat.
