Set point vrs Aux heat

If I want to turn up the heat without the Aux Heat (electric) coming on, I can only bump it by 1 degree. 2 degrees and the aux is on. I stopped programming the temp to go down at night since in the morning Aux heat is bringing me back to set point. This is normally a 6 hour period, figured??? I am saving $ by just keeping it @ one temp?? 13yr old Bryant HP thermostat = Bryant tstatbbprh01-b

Yes, you are saving money by keeping the heat strips from energizing when recovering from a setback temperature setting.

You can use setback temps in cooling mode to save money, but not heat mode, with heat pumps.
