Electric Heat won't come on.

I have an electric heating unit/central air. My heat wouldn't kick on even when the thermostat clearly said it was at the wrong temperature. I replaced my thermostat. It worked fine for about 2 weeks. Now, it's doing the same thing. Occasionally, when I shut the system completely off and then back on, it will come on. The digital read out on the thermostat says "heat on," but it's not, and the fan will still come on if I turn it to "on" instead of "auto." My landlord is useless so I had to do the thermostats myself after 6 months of complaining to him. I would like to have this fixed faster than that since I have a 3 year old in the house and it is truly getting cold now. Any suggestions would be more than welcome. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums.

Do you have a heat pump system or is it an electric furnace with A/C added.

Many electric type heaters/furnaces use relays called sequencers that malfunction.

Can you post the make and model of what you have there ?
