honewell 8320u1008 vs honeywell rth9580

I have a honeywell 8320u1008 thermostat installed and tried to install the honeywell rth 9580 smart thermostat. The problem i am having is that when I wired it up using the same wiring from the 8320 and start it up, it runs the heat pump and my oil heat backup at the same time. I am told the 8320 is called a hybrid t-stat. Can I ust the rth 9580 in its place or is there something else I have to add to make it work?

Your old stat was a Pro version that supports dual fuel applications.
Your new stat is not a Pro version and does not support dual fuel applications.
