Goodman Air Handler

I have a Goodman Air Handler, which is only about 4 years old. We came home one day to find the motor quickly cycling on and off. When it cycles off, it will sort of making a buzzing sound. If we leave it on, it will do this about 20 -25 times per minute. Is this a bad motor, capacitor, or something else. I have exchanged the exact same thermostat with the one upstairs and it still does the same thing. Please tell me it's not the motor. This motor is not cheap.

It is probably this funny looking little TDR fan control if your unit has it.

Do you have a volt meter?

Yes, I have a volt meter. Is there something specific about my symptoms that makes you believe that the fan control is the problem?

Measure the base for a constant 24 volt signal when this occurs.
Measure the motor terminal to 240 volt common for a constant signal when this occurs.

Post the model number of your air handler. The model number of the heat strip would also be of assistance.

I had a company come out and look at it today. They told me the motor was bad and they would have to order one. It was a national company that does 7x24 service. It's under warranty, but it's still going to cost me to repair it since the people that installed it are no longer in business.
