Heat Pumps More Popular

Heat pumps are becoming more popular here in Canada, and am wondering if you have any comments on them?...Energy bills here in Canada are based on kilowatt hours, a watt is voltage times amperage, so the less amps drawn by the heat pumps (efficiency) the more economical them become...any comments?...

Depending on where you are up in Canada and the capability of the heat pump to produce heat in very cold weather will determine if it's benificial for you.

The heatpump runs on electric. When it gets too cold to extract heat from the outside air.... it switches over to electric heating coils which could cost more than how you are currently heating your house if you're using a fossil fuel.

TVA makes HPs fairly economical in my area. Don't they also make HPs that have a gas back up instead of electric heat strips?

Canada is pretty big ... the viability of heat pumps is a lot different in Victoria, than Churchill ...

Are there any neighbors that have heat pumps ? ask them
