Thermostat says heat on but heat isn't working.

Hello. I need help. I have a honeywell t-stat and it works in the on status for ACT/heat and it works in the auto status for AC but when I click it to heat the words "heat on" appear and it clicks but nothing happens. The house is showing 63* and we have it sets to 70*. If we go and reset the breaker for the electric furnance and the t-stat and then turn it back on it works for a good little while, enough to heat the house but then it wont turn back on. What do you think is the problem?

Welcome to the forum! The "heat on" appears on the thermostat because the thermostat is calling for heat because the room temperature is below the set point. The thermostat is only a switch that closes the R and W contacts in the thermostat for the heating cycle. To better assist, please post the model number of your unit.

Furnace model number VR820552296
I don't believe that is the correct model number. You have an air handler, correct?

The first thing to do when a thermostat doesn't operate normally is to check the batteries to see if they are too low. Low batteries can cause erratic operation of the system.

Yes thats correct...batteries have been checked as well and they are working. Where on the furnace would the model number be?

You will need to remove the access panel to find the model number.
