Need Help Installing Honeywell Wifi Thermostat to Trane 4TWX6 Heat Pump (Weather
Hello Everyone,
I am having trouble installing my new Honeywell WiFi thermostat (Model # RTH6580WF) to my existing Trane Heat Pump System (XL Series Weathertron - 4TWX6). I have limited experience with installling thermostats and have had a variety of issues from initially the air conditionining not turning on at all to the air conditioning blasting heat to the thermostat now not being powered on at all. It is clear that I do not know how to properly wire this. If anyone has some guidance, it would be greatly appreciated. Here are the wires I have currently in my system:
Brown (Maybe F? Unlabeled)
Black - W2
White - W (Not W1, just plain W)
Green - O
Blue - B
Yellow - Y
Red - R
Here are the heat pump slots I have to put wires into:
K
L
AUX/E
G
O/B
C
Y
R
Rc (Jumpered to R)
Any ideas on how to connect this correctly?
Thanks!
Shaqneel

Hi PjMax,
Not exactly but this is what I have:
Honeywell (/Trane?) - TCONT800 Series Touch Screen Programmable Comfort Control
OS #: TH8320U1040
MD: 0736
It was installed by BGE (Baltimore Gas and Electric).
Unfortunately, that is all the information I have.

I would take a look at the indoor unit connections.
Green should have been on G and Orange should have been on O.
You need a different thermostat.
Your new stat requires Y2 when configured for heat pumps to properly control your 2 speed unit.

Thanks Houston204 and everyone for the feedback. This gives me some good information to go off of as my old stat works a lot differently from the new one. I may exchange it for something else. Does anyone know of any other good wifi models that may work with my set up?
I don't have a c wire so battery operated might be good if possible.

Do you have a B wire?
Trane's B wire is every other brands C wire so if you had B you have C (24 volt common).
Notice that it is labeled B/C in the diagram at the indoor unit.
The Honeywell TH9320WF5003 would be a good choice if you are currently using a B wire (24 volt common)
