Hi - I have a Goodman Heat pump that came with the house. I have two zones supporting the house. I have had a couple of A/C issues and had to replace to coils but today I started to get a loud screeching sound from the heat pump support my upper level. The heat pump is about 9 years old with model GSH130301A. I removed the housing to see if the fan was moving freely - all seems right with the fan. I noticed that the screeching noise starts about 10 minutes after the fan kicked on. The noise seems to be coming from the lower back of the unit. It is loud enough that I can hear it from inside. Ok, we have ADU with 3 garages down and 1200 sf living quarters 2nd floor. Right now that ADU has what is called cadet heaters in every room and they do suck badly. ADU was lived in by previous owner while they built main house, but there was bunch of them, so they produce a lot of body heat. :-) Now it's a single person and he is cold all the time. Property has propane and electricity. ADU has both. I think it has propane. Sure not. I set him up with radiant oil heater but that one is good for main room. Taking shower is quite a military boot camp adventure. I am seeking reasonable suggestions for better source of heat to keep the place reasonably warm without running electrical bill up the roof and MAJOR remodel.
