Diversitech Condensate Pump

Diversitech Condensate Pump
I had a new Heat pump system installed with air handler a few years ago. They installed a Diversitech iqp 120 condensate pump, which seems to be a good design, in that it doesn't use a float system, which could malfunction.
Wife was in the dungeon doing laundry this afternoon and she reported the A/C was making an odd noise. I looked at it and the LED's on the condensate pump were lighting up in sequence almost as if it were an alarm mode. I looked inside and it was empty, so it wasn't alarming.
It will settle down to a green light, but will return to the sequential lights and beeps. Any ideas as to what could be causing it? Should I take it apart and clean it, even though it has a self cleaning mode? Thanks.

Pretty fancy pump...
The manual lists several modes where various LEDs flash, but not in sequence like you describe.
I'd be inclined to make sure the drain line isn't clogged or the check valve or trap fouled, then test it with some water and see how it handles it.

I'm only somewhat aware of that clear view pump. They are fairly reliable.
Apparently they can really put on a multi colored light show. I left you the link with LED key in it.

Thanks, Pete. Informative otherwise. I think I'll pop the top off tomorrow and see what is happening. The only downside to it operating properly is that it will shut down your compressor if it detects too much water, so I guess I'd better look into it.

Got a call from my HVAC installer and he said it sounded as if the pump was terminal, and only had a two year warranty, so replacing was the only alternative. $65, so not too bad.........just have to use some of my ammo money

Actually that's not too bad for that pump. Condensate pumps in general can get pretty expensive.

Hero to wifey. Made it to HD and back in one hour (record time), had the old one off and new one on and plugged in in 15 minutes. Heat is running just fine (it's still in the 40's here). One way I felt something was wrong was the thermostat had a 4 degree separation and it is normally only 2, so things are back to normal. Thanks for the help.
