That would be great if you posted back with your results.
You have me curious.

A transformer that isn't grounded might give you 24 volts if you measure common to ground.
I see a low voltage fuse but no ground on that transformer.

I always measure common (B) to R, Y, O, W or G to test.

It keeps raining in my neck of the woods as well.
I'm ready for a sunny weekend.
