Fuse to heat pump

What are the older style glass fuses for in the old ge weathertron heat pumps .?
does testing the tip to the side copper also show it's good not on ohms test

were these like old style back up fuses ?

Those wouldn't be part of the heat pump. They may be used in the disconnect before the heat pump.
If they show continuity with an ohmmeter..... then they are good.

It was behind the cover where all the wiring an components are .

is it a overload protection like a breaker that some now have ?

Just wandering what it's there for in unit.
