Using the vacuum pump

After installation of the heat pump I connected the service inlet to the low pressure gauge and the gauge to the vacuum pump. Running the vacuum pump dropped the pressure immediately to -25 microns and stayed as such after 30 minutes. When I closed the low pressure gauge, the pressure immediately jumped back to 0.

It does not seem to be a leak in the pipes because the changes in pressure where immediate - A leak would have been slower to occur.
It does not seem to be a case that the vacuum pump was not fully connected to the system because a pressure drop was made
I was thinking it could be that the gauge hose connected to the service inlet was not actually releasing the air valve. That would explain why the pressure drop was immediate but it does not explain why the pressure was regained immediately as well when the gauge was closed.
Any ideas?
Kind regards, Yariv
