Auxiliary heat only

5 ton Waterfurnace gives auxiliary heat only
Not emergency heat (I believe since house temp not very cold)
Lights dim frequently as furnace attempts to start
Any thoughts on what to check?
My go-to man has past away and repair people very rare
Any in recent past just want to sell you a new unit

Welcome to the forums.

Waterfurnace is a geo thermal system...... correct ?
Furnace ? A gas backup furnace or do you mean backup electric heat ?

These are complicated systems and we need full information on what you have.
For the most part..... these are not DIY friendly for service.

Details on Waterfurnace

Open source well-water geothermal system.
Perhaps not DIY, but I seem to know more than the last two repair experts. Last one checked a few things and said I needed a new $20,000 furnace. I worked at it and found it was an $80 switch
A water geothermal has a water pump, a compressor, a heat exchanger, a blower, and electronic controls. This is not rocket science.
Would like to share knowledge between furnace owners, as repair people do not exist

They exist, they are just hard to find.
Is the compressor running?
Running straight electric heat, your electric bill may be $$$$
