wiring a honeywell tstat for a heat pump??

ok ive changed thermostats in the past and i understand the basics but i dont know much about heat pumps we have a 70 some year old house in northern indiana that has a heat pump system with the furnace in the attic and the old square trane weatherteon tstat with mercury bulbs id like to update it i have 2 honeywell tstats on hand i have a RTH6350d and today i snagged a RTH8560d cheap, will either of these work with a HP? ive been upstairs and snapped a pic of where the tstat wiring connects to the furnace i didnt get the name brand

ok the wiring im guessing from what i seen its 1 stage cool 2 stage hot but heres the break down:
red-R
blue-B
orange-O
green-G
brown or tan-T
yellow-Y1
white-W1
black-W2

red, blue, orange, green, yellow ive figured out and white is stage 1 heat, black is stage 2 but what is the brown/tan wire for labeled T?? the honeywell 8560 is touch screen n wifi which is nice and it has the wmp can someone please explain the wiring steps as to the white and black wires? and what the T wire is for and does it get hooked up? ive researched online and havent found much
thanks

Welcome to the forums.

These are the connections for the T5 thermostat.
Be sure to power the air handler down when working on the stat wiring.

R - red -----------------> R
B - blue ----------------> C
O - orange ------------> O/B
G - green --------------> G
T - brown or tan -----> tape off - not needed
Y1 - yellow ------------> Y
W1 - white--------------> AUX (W2)
W2 - black -------------> E

You will need to program the stat for your system.
Function 200 ------> heat pump
Function 205 ------> air to air heat pump
Function 218 ------> O/B on cool
Function 220 ------> 1 cooling stage
Function 221 ------> heat stages 1 and AUX/E 1 stage

The T/brown was used for an outside temperature sensor.
