Advice on humidistat failure

I had a new electric furnace installed, and the guy didn’t give me much confidence. The job is done, and the furnace works well. I went down to turn up the humidistat. The furnace was off, and when I turned the dial to 35%, the valve opened and I could hear water going through the humidifier. Then, I heard a “pop!”, and smoke cane out of the solenoid. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums.

Without knowing or seeing what you have..... I'd say it was wired wrong.
To offer any type of detailed information..... I'd need the model numbers for the humidifier and the humidistat.
