Replacing reversing valve solenoid

Model CH5524VKA2
Goodman compressor
25 years old
Seems to have a problem going in or coming out of defrost mode intermittently. I shut it down at the thermostat and restart it 5 minutes later and it's ok for a week or more.I thought I'd try to replace the solenoid. Is it just a matter of disconnecting the wires, removing a nut and pulling it out?

Hi, as far as I know a solenoid coil is either good or bad , there is no in between , the problem is in the circuit that controls it.

Welcome to the forums.

Yes.... that's all there is to it but I agree with Geo..... those valves don't usually go intermittent.
I'd check the voltage to it first and make sure you aren't loosing that.

Great, thank you both. I'll check voltages and probably try a new defrost control board.
