Need help with wiring of thermostat

I'm replacing my cheap Cadet thermostat for wall heat fan with a smart thermostat and i'm a bit confused about the wiring.

Coming out from the wall, there are 3 wires:
Black connects to cadet thermostat L1 wire
White connects to cadet thermostat T1 wire
Copper wire not connected to anything (see attached pic).

My new thermostat has three wires:
Load
L2 (neutral)
L1

The wall wires are weird...missing a red?

Which wires connects to which? Thanks!

You only have one leg of the 240v circuit there. That device needs both legs. You cannot use it there.

Your original stat is a single pole unit. It is only breaking one leg of the hots.

Some might protest but you probably can cheat to get it working by attaching the mysa L1 to black L1, Load to T1, and L2/N to the copper/ground.

That would only be 120v. It may work but would not be considered safe or "to code".
