propane furnace with a heat pump
i want to use the propane furnace when the temps drop below 40 outside what controls will i need.
this way i can use my generator when the power goes out

The thermostat gets its power from the furnace so you just need to power your furnace from your genny. If you are powering the whole house you'll need to shut the 240v off to the outside condenser. If you're just moving the furnace power to the genny.... you don't need to make any changes as the heat pump won't start without 240v. You'd be running your thermostat in emergency mode which tells the heat pump to not run and to use the furnace instead.

The link I posted is a little more expensive then I would expect.
The last 4 digits of the stat can vary but the TH8321R is the important part of the model number.
