door bell cams

Just a tip, although a bit late for the holidays.

If you're thinking of getting a friend or relative one of those doorbell cameras, such as RING, SimpliSafe, ReoLink and a bunch of others, think about what they have for a doorbell set-up. More and more people are opting for wireless door bells. These doorbell cam will not work without standard doorbell wiring. I've heard about lots of complaints and the fact that many of these places will not take back the product.

Also, door bell placement. Most doorbell buttons are located several inches from the storm door frame, not a problem, but if like mine it's located with-in the storm door frame, you can't mount a doorbell cam. And in many cases the bell wire is not long enough to thread into the cam housing.

If your not sure and still want to but one, be sure you can return the unit or buy from a BestBuy or Walmart.

And yes this exact scenario happened to me. Fortunately, daughter was able to return/exchange for a couple of Lutron Caseta Wireless dimmer switches. Which I much prefer.
