Question Kitchen lighting?

I'm redecorating my kitchen and am "stuck" with the kitchen lighting: I do not like nor want the "standard" flourscent strip lighting fixture on the ceiling. I have a long, narrow working kitchen and am looking for a contemporary-styled track lighting system that can utilize the compact flourscent light bulbs. Does anyone have any suggestions: does such a fixture exist? Where are they available? Is there an alternate solution/suggestion?

I tried installing a standard track lighting system, but the halogen bulbs give off too much heat and far too many shadows to be workable in the kitchen area.

Thanks in advance.

have you thought of recessed light fixtures w/ compact flourescent lamps????might give you better light than the track will.
