recovering cloth lampshades
#1
Does anyone know how to recover a cloth lampshade that has gathers and a casing border on top and bottom? It is an unusual shape and I cannot find one to replace it.

Helena Maria - The are many ways to cover existing lamp shades. It's a great solution to use the existing form and have something totally unique.
See how the shade you have is put together. Sometime the only way you can tell is when you are taking it apart to strip the frame.
There is a product called Fabritac (available in most fabric stores) It will "glue" the fabric together as you wrap it around the frame. Cover the raw edges with decorative trims that coordinate with your decor.
If you are still unclear - search the Christopher Lowell site. There should be lots of information in craft books too.
Good luck with your project!
