I would make sure you could find the studs, if you can buy one of those stud finders that would help if not put in togle bolts that way it will help hold your 50 mirror. Hope this helps you

You must hang on a stud! Also check you local hardware or home improvement store for a product called mirror mastic. You might also consider puttin a decorative trim piece under the mirror to help support the weight. Please check with a professional before you hang this whopper!

50 lbs. is not that heavy a mirror. I have installed 6'x12' mirrors with no problem using mirror mastic componds. All full glass companys have it, Be warned that if you want to remove the mirror later, DO NOT use mastic!!! It is stronger than the drywall and will rip the wall off where the mastic is. If you don't want that then check with the glass company about a channel track for the bottom and clips for the sides and top.
I glazied for 5 years and have installed 100's of different types and sizes of mirrors!

It's not easy to move it after it's up. so be sure you are level when you do it! Also with mastic you don't have to find wall studs as the mirror will hang on the drywall surface!
