Building a closet

We have very little closet space in our house...no pantry..no coat closet,etc...

I have been eyeing all the corners and walls of my house to see where I could possibly build one...but I really need help to see if it is even possible. Any suggestions on research material would be greatly appreciated.

Well, here I thought I was the only one with NO closets and NO pantry.......we're also in the middle of trying to design something.....keep posting if you get any new ideas!

I have a mountain of information on the same topic in a variety of forms. For example, I have books, magazines, vcr tapes, cd's and loose papers, all about sewing! It's the same with several other serious hobbies. I'm in great need of some ideas on the best way to organize and store this information over-load. I have three adjustable open bookcases from floor to ceiling and want to be able to find what I need quickly without having the shelves look like the puppies ran through them.
