Question

Help...I'm horribly allergic to chemical fragrances and my roommate dumped a bottle of oil based man-made jasmine scent on the carpeting. The carpet has been cleaned several times and it just keeps on activating the smell when it is wet. I've tried ammonia, 'odors-out', white vinegar and this stuff just won't touch this nasty smell. I have asthma and I can't get into the room right now. Thanks for any help

Hi rainbowsoup,

There are a couple of products that just might do it for you. One is X-O. This is an odor 'neutralizer' without any secondary flash odors. It also comes as an odor neutralizer plus cleaner called X-O Plus. These are used in nursing homes, day care facilities and the travel industry where they have to accomodate all types of people's needs.

There is also one called 'Eliminator'. It contains active bacteria enzymes (safe for humans and pets) which works on a wide variety of problems even oils. Eliminates stains as well as odors.

Both are available from www.cleanreport.com. I have no connection with the company but I do use their products. Get in contact with them through their website and see if they think either of these will do it for you given your asthma.

My daughter is asthmatic and seems to get along with them OK. This is not to say you will because everyone is different but it sure might be worth a try. You might have someone else do the clean-up. That's what she does with things that really bother her so she doesn't have to re-enter until it's safe for her to do so.

As the mother of an asthmatic who has made more than one emergency trip to the hospital you have my sympathy.

Best of luck - Ladybug

Ladybug: Thanks for your speedy response. It is greatly appreciated. I did look up the clean report and e-mailed a message to find out if either product might work. It sure beats pulling out the carpet!
Thanks.
