Is installing a central vac a DIY project?

I am think of buying a central vac system for the first floor of our house. The first floor is all hardwood and cork, which would be very easy to keep clean with a central system. Just curious of anyone has installed one of these and how difficult is was. On paper it seems that it would be rather simple, since I am not going through walls to the 2nd floor. Thanks for any advice and experience.

Installing central vacuum can be a DIY project. Most manufacturers have instructions and some have videos. You might find the following link helpful:
