I bought an old vanity at a house sale. There was a mirror on the surgace of the table top, cut to fit the top, but the silvering is coming off of the glass. Is it possible to remove the silvering or do I have to get the glass resilvered?

Hi Handygirl, well if it is an old mirror top then the silvering will come off it is painstaking work to remove this stuff and invariably it you will scratch the glass, it is cheaper to have a new mirror cut and slotted in than remove the old silvering, go to your local glass company with the mirror if you can remove it easily enough or take the whole of the dresser with you and leave it with them to do, why not get a quote from them before you do anything else, the exspence of having the mirror resilvered is a lot more than buying a new mirror, and this has to be done proffesionally it is not something you can do in D.I.Y, I hope this helps a little, Handyman
