Can you help. I am putting a dado rail up my
stairs but cannot work out how to get the right angle for it to go up the stairs. I have made a line using string and chalk but i cannot get the angles to match and i'm running out of dado fast.

Measure the same distance up from the stairs run...the part you step on. For instance if 36" up from the floor measure 36" periodically up from a few of the stairs.
Then snap your chaulk line.

restaining old paneling

I have a 30 year home and the light colored paneling that has turned yellow/orange from cigarette smoke and cooking grease over the years. I would like to darken it to a cherry or mahogany with more of a red tint. Is there a way to restain the wood without streaking?Read More

Chemical Fragrance in Carpet

Help...I'm horribly allergic to chemical fragrances and my roommate dumped a bottle of oil based man-made jasmine scent on the carpeting. The carpet has been cleaned several times and it just keeps on activating the smell when it is wet. I've tried ammonia, 'odors-out', white vinegar and this stuff just won't touch this nasty smell.
