Restoring metal base of Antique Lamp
First off, I would just like to say "Hello". I just now joined this wonderful community and this is my first post.
I have the set of beautiful antique lamps the my Grandfather had given me some time ago. I'm not sure what type they are called. Here's one similar to them:

My question is: Does anyone know how to restore the metal base part to make it look good as new? I would appreciate any advice anyone might have. Thanks!

Hi Shell,
Welcome to DoItYourself! Just a thought that if you remove the 'patina' that is there from years of use, you will devalue the lamps. Without knowing what type of metal your lamps are it would be difficult to say what to use. I'm sure others will come along with more ideas if you still want to 'clean' them.
