Might be as hard as finding something she'll eat!

Hi, my daughter who's 13 has informed me that for her upcoming sleepover party (in about a month and a half) her room must not be anything like it is now: White walls, torn out pictures of pop groups covering the white walls with the few horse pictures in front of these. She said to me, "Mom I picked out these colors for the walls (cool pink & cool blue, pink for ceiling and upper part of the walls, blue for the chair-rail to the floor.) Then you can paint my bathroom (which must be smaller then 12x10) like a barn, red and white walls, horse pictures, and paintings of a pasture with a horse being ridden." This sounds like a lot of money putting into it for a sleepover party, more so, since I am planning to get a divorce, and we rent this house. Any one have ideas?! PLEASE HELP!

As the house is rented it is more probable your not allowed to paint to these colors......Just say no and offer a alternative such as taking over the downstairs for the night....with all bringing sleeping bags.

Scratching my head...

First of all, you daughter informed you of I understand that we want to please our children but it seems to me that if your daughter really wants this, maybe she could pitch in on cost. Tell her to get out the paint brush and go for it. She's at the age that with some guidence she could do it herself, maybe some of her soon to be slumber pary friends could help her. I don't know how your relationship with your daughter, if she's used to giving orders and you follow or what, maybe you just worded it that way. If you think you can afford it and want to do the work then do it. It's really up to you. she's at the age she wants to express herself and a couple of cans of paint and some elbow grease might be a great way for her to do this.

Janene- thanks! I think I'll tell her that! No, she's not used to giving me orders and having me go off and do them like a good servant - it's just that she's wanted to have her room fit her for so long, I just figured well, this is as good of a time as ever.

Thanks!!!

Great, I bet it will turn out nice and I bet she will feel so proud having done it herself! Hey I don't know if she's into butterfiles or dragonflies or stuff like that but the colors sound like they would go nice with it and you can pick up those stampers at Wal Mart for about $1 and they turn out so cute. You could just stager them on the wall for some intrest. Good luck!

Cool

But don't forget, this a rented property.
If the landlord doesn't approve this in advance, they could take your security deposit to paint it back like it was.
I would call them first.
