Possible Security Problems with the X-10
From time-to-time, the subject of the X-10 (x10) camera comes up and I'd like to enter the following into the record and of course, entertain any discussion on the topic;
I read an article last year in the New York Times that scared me away from using the x-10 for anything I'd call security. I went back and found the article in the archives, but of course it has been so long ago that they charge for web-accessed reprints. I, then discovered a shortened version that had been reprinted in the Seattle paper, but it had been edited to remove what I considered the scariest paragraph which is down towards the end of the piece. Then, I discovered a complete copy on what appears to be somebody's blog, so I am linking all three to this post.
The blog version is the complete article and I'm linking the shortened version in case someone finds comfort in things printed in a respectable paper and of course, I'm linking the original Times piece because they actually financed the publication.

Peace Out;

Hmm, very interesting reading. Especially considering the fact that many of our frequenters use X-10. I'll copy it over to Home Automation also.
