Question Alternative to X10?

I have read a blurb here and there about a pure ethernet/IP solution for node control that would eliminate the X10 technology. Anybody else heard about this?

There are a few emerging technologies that are out (or coming soon): Z-Wave, UPB, Zigbee, and Insteon.

Here's some good discusion about these various techs.

Many people, including myself, are awaiting the arrival of the Insteon products to see how they'll stack up against UPB/Z-Wave. If nothing else, hopefully it will help drive down the price of the UPB products

I just got an insteon starter kit a month ago and so far it is awesome. I ordered several more switches and have installed them as well.

I haven't had any reliability issues like my existing x10 modules.

Anyone else play with insteon yet?

I've played with it but prefer the UPB stuff.
