Automating switched lights... w/o installing new switches

Hey folks,

For security reasons, I want to automate my home's lighting. Almost all of my lights are CFLS and controlled by switches.

I know that X10, and others, make actual wall switches that can replace a person's current switches and allow the downstream devices to be controlled remotely.

I reeeeaaally don't want to swap out my switches. It's silly, I know, but I spent a lot of time selecting the ones I have and would like to leave them as is.

Is there a way, then, to control the fixtures without swapping the switches? Maybe a module that can be installed in the actual wiring behind the switch? Or... something else?

Thanks so much for any help you can offer!

X-10 and other schemes have screw-in controllers that go between the bulbs and sockets. They don't physically fit inside many enclosed fixtures though.

Table lamps are no problem because all of the control systems have devices that plug in to the wall.
