Garage door opener remote issues

I've tried replacing batteries in the remotes, replacing the remotes, and unplugging. I've looked at the sensors as well and they seem to be working fine. The opener works just fine if I'm using the hard mounted button inside the garage. If I'm using the remotes, I have to be right in front of the door and push the button a couple times in order for the door to sometimes open. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! I'm at witts end and ready to purchase a new opener.
Not sure how old it is...I've lived in the house for 8yrs and it was here before I purchased the house.

Welcome to the forums.

Have you or your neighbors added anything recently that transmits on a radio frequency? Alarm system? Motion sensors? This can cause the issues you described. Try shutting off every circuit breaker in the house except the one that feeds the opener, and turn off or unplug anything else on that circuit.

What's the make & model of the door opener?
