Question

Short of calling an electrician who would likely not call me back, where can I find reliable information regarding the cost of replacing existing wiring in old houses? In trying to budget any potential projects, I find it difficult to estimate costs for replacing old knob and tube wiring. Any ideas on where I can go to find this information?

Calling 2 or 3 electrical firms will be more than happy to provide an estimate as long as are made to beleive that they have a chance to get the job. you of course are just thinking about it and are just asking about the costs, and certianly have the ability to say no and just say that you are planing on doing it as soon as you can budget it, on the phone though gets there hopes up and they will come running. There is a lot of variables in determining the cost and the house would have to be seen in order to get an acturate estimate.

To replace the wiring in the entire house there could be some drywall work that may have to be done after the rewire.
