mitsubishi vs50va2 screen rolls need to figureout how to adjust it can you help

About 2 weeks ago, my Sanyo tv would come up with a real thin line in the middle of the screen with black on the top & bottom. In this line, you can see the colors from what's on that channel. If you leave the tv on for a few minutes, the picture will come up. The sound is fine. It's been doing that now every time I turn it on. Any idea what the problem is? I'm sorry I don't have the model number with me here at work, but I can post them tomorrow. The tv is about 8-9 years old. My brother thought it might just be a bad connection on the back because it started out with the rolling screen--horizontal static-like. I jiggled the connections, but didn't actually take them off. It hasn't made any difference. Thanks for your help!
