Panasonic VCR Spitting out takes
Got a Panasonic VCR Model number PV 4409. Recently I tried playing a tape and as I slid it into the slot the machine spit it back ....Again and again I tried ..spit it back each time...Also got another VCR from about fifteen years ago....never used it much but my daughter says it does the same thing...
Any suggestions to fix will be received with a smile...

Cleaning...
First I would try to clean it but that’s not the problems. Belts, pinch roller and idler tires (unless geared) need to be replaced. Being idle actually cause more trouble for the belts etc than using it. I Hints, Tips and Tricks I have detailed destructions for cleaning a VCR. You can do a search for my handle to find it. In store repair around $75 I would think, replace it for $60… That’s what drove us smaller shops out of business… Mass production, the downfall of the common man.

The older VCR had a stuck tape that was only a label off one of my tapes...Other VCR has never had a tape stuck ....always worked great until it started spitting tapes back at me...
I was reading on another web site about troubleshooting VCRs...One post said the infrared module might cause this problem....

Well...
Oh yes it could be the in/out sensors, the Hall effect xsistors may be dirty and not seeing the reel tables turn there are several things that could be wrong but what it boils down too is the replacement will be cheaper in the long run. If these were high end Sony or JVC etc then I would say repair at least once. But they aren't so it's not and that's why I am setting here twiddling my thumbs and donating my free time to our Community Blood center as a greeter...

Thanks Bigmike...
Guess I will just get a new one...
Great that you volunteer at the Blood bank...I have worked in one as well as many hospitals as a microbiologist so I know they appreciate the help. Too bad there aren't more of your type ...Life could be a much nicer place...
