Help: Sony STR-D450Z and STR-DB830 problems
Hey Everyone, New to the forum today and looks like there's some very knowledgeable people here. More than I can say about me when it comes to electronics.
Here's my scenario. My 13 year old daughter wanted a big b-day party and I became the DJ for the night. I figured I would run my laptop into my 3 year old 850 receiver and play some downloaded MP3 (purchased) for the gang. I ran the connector cable from my headphone out jack and plugged the RCAs in the CD input jacks. It was working like a charm until I added some volume from the laptop. And then the newer 850 receiver went into Protect mode and that was that. Display worked fine but no sound. I had 15 minutes until the party and stressed out and pulled out my older D450Z Receiver and did it worked for awhile and then it blow. The display went blank and no sound. Here's what I figured happen. I overloaded the input jacks on both receivers. I didn't realize that I needed to have the volume on the receiver cranked up and not crank it up from the laptop. Can you tell me what to look for and what you think I may need to do to repair it. I work on cars all the time and I figure I can attack this one as well, with your help..
Thanks You in advance,
Mark

Start with checking the fuse(s) on the Str-D450z.
Information I have for the Str-Db830 comes from two other models: Str-De825 and 835. It may help.
Tech Tip as follows:
1)Str-D450z/No output(protect mode)./Replace Ic702.
2)Str-Db830/In protect mode./Replace Ic701#Upc2581v, Q706#Mn2488, Q707#Mp1620, Q756#Mn2488, Q757#Mp1620, C799, C798, R626#.22x2ohm@5watt, R726, Ic501, Ic601, and 8amp fuse.
