Playing CD's in the DVD player

Just a general question, but I have heard that playing CD's in a DVD player is not good. Is this true, even though the DVD player says it's compatible with CD's and CDRW's? Thanks

What you heard is incorrect. There is no problem playing CD in the DVD player.

If you mean will CDs damage a DVD player, the answer is no. A couple of years ago some players had problems with 700 and 800 meg CD-Rs and CD-RWs, but that's pretty much a thing of the past with the newer players.

Ok...thanks for putting that worry to rest guys. The person who told me that made some mention of the way CD's are spun as opposed to DVD's, or something. Any idea what he may have been talking about?

Although I don't know for certain, the CD and DVD's might be running (spinning) at different rpm speeds so possibly this is what your friend had ment?
