Old satellite dish removal

Our new home came with a large (10 ft) satellite dish. It's mounted atop a 20-30 ft pole in our back yard. We have advertised it locally as free to anyone who will remove it, but so far no takers. We aren't even sure if there is still a demand for them. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions as to the best way to remove it from its perch?

Masshomeowner,

Wow, that's a heck of a pole!!
There really isn't much call for big dishes anymore, since li'l ones are free.
An old receiver may be worth 150 bucks to someone who just cooked one like you own. An old LNB may be worth $25. Aluminum mesh dishes may get you 25 or 30 bucks at the scrap yard.

other than the above, "timber" the best way you can safely.
Do you have room for a large tractor to push it over??

People involved in the SETI (search for exra-terrestrial intelligence) program have a use for this type of dish.

Do you still have this old dish?

I am looking for one as you describe. I live in Western Mass and could come and remove it. I am working on a dish project and need an old one for experimentation.
