Question TV Vertical Deflection

I have an issue with my 27" Panasonic TV vertical deflection.

First, the picture started shrinking from the top and slowly in months the top half screen has disappeared.

I replaced all the capacitors in the vertical deflection circuit. It didn't change anything. Then, I replaced the IC for vertical deflection. Not having much experience with soldering, I believe I have short circuited the IC and blew it. Now, I lost the bottom half as well. I am now left with only one horizontal white screen in the middle.

I hope the tube is still good and I haven't caused more damages to the unit.

I need some advice from experts. Please help me.

Thanks, Ravi

I think you'll have to try changing the I.C again. The biggest hazard with repeated I.C changes is damage to the printed circuit tracks. They usually start to lift and break away if the iron is used too much around the I.C pins. So go careful with the soldering iron. Use solder mop to aid removal of the I.C rather than a de-soldering pump.

The tube won't have suffered any damage from the work done so far.
