Sony KVM2141U vertical sweep

Hello,

I have a Sony KVM2141U which has no vertical sweep. I found that R819 was open, but when R819 was replaced, it blew again. As a test, R819 was bridged with a little bit of wire, and when this happened all that was heard was repeated clicking and the sound of HV trying to startup again and again.

I'm beginning to suspect the vertical deflection chip TDA8304. Does anybody else have any ideas?

check for shorts in the path of r819, the vertical ic is certinally suspect to me, remove the solder bridge and check voltages on both sides of r819, with r819 removed, if the set doesn't shut down.
you have a short and replacing the ic is the first step i would take.

good luck, snuffs

What was the value of the bridge? Maybe if you used a heavier wire it would work? Try something like 12AWG that should not burn up and the tv should go on.
