Does anybody have anything negative to say about the speaker systems that Bose produces? I like the look and size and the sound quality seems great as well so I am considering buying a system and replacing my old Harmon Kardon receiver and Infinity speaker system. I visited my local Bose store and the only drawback I see to their speaker systems is that you have to wire the small 5.1 reflecting speakers back to the main module with an RCA plug!? Well, at least that is how the salesperson explained it. My living room is wired with speaker wire in the walls with outlets on the ceiling for speaker mounting and a jack on the wall to run back to my receiver. Having to run RCA cable all over the room kind of defeats the purpose of hiding cords and my wife (the person that runs the house) has already said NO if that's the case. Was the salesperson's explanation correct? If so, can I still use my speaker wiring? What would I need to purchase so I don't have to look at RCA cable along every floor board? And hopefully its a simple process / solution. Any input on Bose systems overall? THANK YOU!!!!

I occasionally work on TVs as a hobby - never for profit, only as a learning experience. This is a Sony Kp61xbr28 projection TV. It's over ten years old, repair estimate is over $450. I am trying to fix for a friend who already purchased a new set but hates to put this one on the curb. There were no power supplies - on the G board, R604 (.1 ohm, fusible resistor) was open, Q603 & Q604 (2SC4582) shorted. I tried to fix on the bench, but without proper loading, I damaged some diodes. After replacing and checking for shorts on the G board, I checked for shorts on the remainder of the set. With no shorts, I powered up the set, it stayed on for about 3 minutes, picture was ok,and now Q603 and Q604 are shorted. I need to know what are the proper values of resistances to load up all the supplies and test this board on the bench? If I can successfully test on the bench for 30 minutes or so, can you suggest a method to test in the set? I now know why it costs so much to work on this type of set. Do I need to have the exact Sony replacement parts for Q 603 and Q604? I have the Sony service manual. I'll be glad to share it with you if you want. Thanks in advance for your help. Don Davis
