Have to smack sony tv to work
This Sony Trinitron is about 6 yeard old, great picture & sound... problem is: When you first turn it on, the picture jumps around then goes out unless you smack it on the side or the back... After doing that for about 15 minutes it will stay on and work for hours or even days as long as you leave it on.
What could be the problem? Seems like bad contact or something. Thanks.

yes it sure sounds like a connection. take it a shop for an estimate. take comfort in knowing it's not the tube. if you know a bit about electronics, take the back off and try it yourself.
