old cable box won't change channels
Hi,
I've got a cable box about 3-4 years old and one day it just stopped working. I use it to change channels on an old tv that doesn't have a remote or go above channel 13. I opened up the box after a hard fight with the casing screws and didn't find anything that got burned up or melted. The cable box will turn on and the display will change channels, but the output will stay on channel 3. Do you have any ideas on what could be wrong?
P.S. I do have cable service.
thanks---kushballz

Probably the easiest..
thing to do would be to take your box and trade it in for a working one. Information on cable boxes tends to be hard to get, because they don't want people stealing channels. Also, has your cable company recently changed channel numbers or switched from analog to digital? This may be the cause of the problem.
For a short-term solution, if you have a spare VCR, you could use it instead of your cable box. It should be able to act as a tuner for the TV. (It will also tell you if your cable line went bad- no signal).
Hope this helps!
