compatable remote?
I was wondering if any Sony remore will work on a sony Trinitron TV.I have a remote model RM-Y117 that is worn out (tape holding on back cover)and buttons are worn and you really need to mash them to get any function.
I see some Sony remotes on E Bay for a good price because a new one like I have is about 100 bucks.

Save your money. There are dozens of universal remotes that can be programmed for nearly any piece of electronic equipment. Paid less than $20 to replace one for my Mom not too long ago. Just be sure to check the package to see what it says it'll work with. Also might want to buy it somewhere where it will be returnable, just in case (Circuit City claims they'll take stuff back, no questions asked supposedly).

old remote
The old remote is worn bad tape holds the battery cover one slide switch for cable box is missing numbers are worn off etc.It still works with a little coaxing.
