High definition problem
I have a fairly new 32" Sanyo high definition television. I get my service thru charter cable. Whenever I watch a live sports event in HD, the background noise and the loudspeakers drown out the announcers so that they can't be heard. Has anyone else had this problem? On the other shows in HD, the video and the audio seem to be slightly out of sync. The picture portion is wonderful. The cable company claims that it must be in the broadcast signal. On the regular channel everything's fine.

It would seem your system is processing those sports events in dolby digital and is expecting the announcer sounds to be coming out of a center channel you don't have. Try setting the audio to stereo.

I certainly agree with Stereoguy.
If you've got HD, then you really want DD 5.1 also. If you like the HD picture, you'll also love the audio, especially with the adjustable center channel volume and most important of all, the powered sub woofer.
