Car Stereo thinks it's HOT

After having owned my used car with a nice 30W Alpine Radio/CD for about five years, the unit has apparently decided it's been stolen. All of a sudden, the display says 'HOT', and now it won't operate. At first, I thought it was actually overheating, but it says it's hot no matter how long I let it cool down. Is this some kind of anti-theft thing that Alpine puts in their radios? I don't know much about Alpine, other than they are touted as high-end units, and come dealer installed, only. I pulled the unit and looked carefully for some kind of reset, but to no avail.

I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thanks!

Dave

Thumbs up

Alpine Electronics is a branch of our old buddy, Radio Shack. I have no idea what this thing is trying to tell you. I suggest that you present the question to them directly: http://www.alpineelectronics.com/

Click on URL above and go right to the site.

And, please let us know what they say.

No response yet from Alpine - maybe the lovebug virus got them or something. I'll keep trying - going to a Radio Shack today to see what they can tell me. More to follow..
