white lines on cable t.v.
#1

I have white horizontal lines running through the picture on my t.v. (cable). T.v. is new and good. Cable company has come by many times replaced feed line with a bigger cable and finally said it was the t.v. It does it on all the t.v.s in the house. The cable will cut-out altogether sometimes then come back in. Cable Co. says it's the t.v.(surprise). All connections are good. Picture otherwise is good. Amplifier? Signal?

Try disconnecting the splitter that feeds the TV's in the house and feed only one Tv from the main cable into the house. Try the same on another TV if the prob persists then its cable , keep after them until you get the service manager to look at it.
If it is horz lines that move up the screen slowly it's a bad amplifier. It could be your own amp in the house so in the above test don't use the house amp( if you have one).

JDS is on the right track, how many TV's are hooked up to the cable? Every TV is going to drop the signal by 25% +- 5%. Say you have 4 set's, you have dropped your signal considerably. Look for a booster amp but doubt you have one but you may need one. Radio Sham I mean Shack has several and 5 to 10 Db should be enough to bring signal levels up to norm. I love the cable companies, I actually had a company tell me my coax was causing drop out on my satellite equipment. It actually was inteference from a digital cell tower and moving the dish cured problem. I am not trying to be mean but in 26 years of electronics I have never heard of a "tracking" device on a TV. You may mean fine tuning but for multiple set? Probably within a few years old, all fine tuning is done automaticaly.
