Unhappy PROBLEMS phillips-magnavox big screen 2000

Can anyone help me? I was given a older (5 years) big screen from a family member when they upgraded to a plasma tv. I managed to bribe enough people to get the tv home, but it looks bad (the picture). Its cloudy, dull looking. I tried to mess with some of the controls like contrast, coler etc but it still seems dull and a little hazy. Is this something I can fix or get fixed? Did i get stuck with someone elses junk? Any advice would help. You can tell me bad news even though I would really like to hear good news!

Thank you

First ask the family member how the screen looked before they bought their plasma. If it was fine then you're going to need to call for repair. The lens in big screens can easliy be knocked out of alignment if the unit is bounced around. They gave you the TV so its still probably cheaper to fix it including the money you bribed the movers with, than to buy a new one. SG
